14th September 2019

Dear Parents/Carers

Welcome come back to the start of a new school year and I hope everyone had a lovely Summer. We returned to some very exciting news! Our school was the overall winner for the Filey in Bloom Best Kept Gardens Competition 2019. Well done everyone!

We welcome some new teachers to our team as Miss Beaumont joins Year 2, Miss Williams joins Year 1 and Miss McIntyre joins Reception. We also welcome Mrs George to her new role as Acting Deputy Headteacher and Mrs Stubbs as Key Stage 1 Lead.

Welcome Meetings for Parents

Over the next few weeks class teachers will be holding year group welcome meetings to explain class routines and how you can support your children at home. This also gives an opportunity to meet the team and ask any questions you may have.

Year 2 Welcome Meeting – Tuesday 10th September 2.30pm in the School Hall

Year 1 Welcome Meeting – Wednesday 11th September 2.30pm in the School Hall

Reception Welcome Meeting – Wednesday 18th September 2.30pm in the School Hall

Reading Club

Family Reading Club will start at 2.45pm on Monday 9th September. This is a lovely opportunity to share books with your child, have a drink and a biscuit while encouraging children to love reading and earn prizes. Please come to the main entrance and collect your child from their classroom. The reading club takes place in the Year 2 classrooms at the bottom end of school.

Book Exchange

Please remember our book exchange is every Friday in each Year group area and will start on Friday 13th September. Children simply need to bring a book from home that they have finished with and swap it for something new and exciting to read. Medals and prizes are also awarded for children who regularly swap books.

Family Learning

Family Learning sessions will commence next week from 9am to 11am every Tuesday and Friday. This is a time to enjoy light refreshments, have an opportunity to meet with other parents and have the chance to work alongside your own child. Miss Hiley (our school Family Liaison Coordinator) will lead the sessions and as always a crèche is available. Please ask if you need any further information.

School Photos

Tempest Photos will be taking individual and family photographs in the school hall on Monday 16th September. Junior age pupils and pre-school siblings are invited to join us at 8.30am if you require family photographs.

School Website

Please visit our school website to see some of the exciting things happening in school. Each class will tweet regularly to keep you up to date with curriculum activities. You will also find all newsletters and other important information about our school.

A list of dates for your diary will follow early next week.
