Dear Parents/Carers

We have already had a busy start to this half term with all our children enjoying
‘Fishermen’s Tale’ a production based on bible stories on Wednesday. Today some of our
year two children are working towards achieving a well-being award at Coventry University
in Scarborough with Miss Hiley.

Children’s Dementia Friends Training
On Monday 2 nd March all our children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes will take
part in age appropriate dementia friends training. This is a wonderful opportunity for our
children to learn about dementia and understand how it effects our friends at The Hylands
Retirement Home.
World Book Day
Just to remind everyone that Thursday 5 th March is World Book Day and your child is
invited to come to school dressed up as their favourite story book character. They are
welcome to bring their chosen book to school with them to share with friends. Swimming
lessons will still go ahead on this day.
Gymnastics Competition
Some of our year two children have been selected to take part in a gymnastics competition
in Scarborough on Thursday 5 th March. Good luck to our team I am sure they will do their
best representing our school.
Poetry Assembly
Miss Williams’s class will be leading our Collective Worship time on Friday 6 th March at
9am, family and friends of children in this class are welcome to join us.
Book Fair
The travelling book fair will arrive on Wednesday 18 th March and stay with us until Tuesday
24 th March. This will take place in the school hall and you will be able to use the World
Book Day voucher to receive £1.00 of the price of a book.
Coronavirus
We are ensuring our children understand the importance of hand washing with soap and
water throughout the day and ask all members of staff to do the same with either soap and
water or hand sanitiser. It is advised to catch coughs and sneezes in a tissue before
binning and washing hands. The public are advised to visit www.nhs.uk/coronavirus for
further information and to check the list of affected areas.

Thank you for your continued support and please remember to check our school website
for other information.
