Dear Parents/Carer
Happy New Year and I hope you all had a lovely Christmas break. The Spring Term is now well underway and we welcome Mrs Davis into our team,
Parent ‘Drop In’ Sessions
The next parent ‘Drop In’ sessions will be on Tuesday 4th February and Thursday 2nd April at 2.30pm for any parents /carer wanting to ask questions or have a walk around school. Anything of a more urgent nature please talk to members of staff or myself whenever needed.
Maths Class
Adult learning math classes will start on Tuesday 21st January from 12 – 3pm. Any parents wanting to enrol please ask Mrs Newlove in the school office. Adult learning is a great opportunity to develop your own skills and achieve qualifications. We are very fortunate to be able to offer these classes for parents in our school, please ask for more information if you are interested.
Dementia Friends
We are very happy to be a ‘Dementia Friendly’ school and value the intergenerational work our children do with dementia patients at The Hylands Care Home. You too can become a ‘Dementia Friend’ by attending a 45 minute session in school either 2pm or 5pm on Monday 3rd February.
Recorders Year Two
Our children in year two will have the opportunity to learn how to play the recorder during school time. Please watch out for the letter ‘coming soon’!
Family Learning
We now have three ‘Family Learning ‘sessions a week. These take place on either Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning or Friday morning. Please come along if you would like to work with your child in school. This half term children will have the opportunity to be authors and illustrators and produce their own professionally printed book.
Swimming Group 3
Group two swimmers will have their last lesson on Thursday 16th January. Group three (some children from Miss Beaumont’s class and Mrs Stubbs’ Year twos) will start on Thursday 23rd January until Thursday 12th March 2020.
Wraparound Care
Please remember that we provide wonderful before and after school provision with our ‘Seashells’ club from 7.30am until 6pm every school day. Ask for more information or see our school website.
Free School Meals
Although your child is entitled to free school meals whilst in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 if you are in receipt of:
- Child tax credit
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- Income –related Employment and Support Allowance
- Support under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guarantee element of Pension Credit
- A run-on of Working Tax Credit
Our school will receive extra funding to benefit your child. Please complete the attached form even if you are unsure and we can check for you, Please return by Tuesday 14th January 2020.
