Newsletter March 2019

19 March 2020
To parents and carers at
all Ebor Academy Trust schools

Dear Parent/Carer
Following instruction from the government, schools will close, for most children, at the end of the school day on Friday 20 March until further notice.
Children of key workers and vulnerable children will remain in school and we have made the decision as a trust that all our schools, except three, will remain open and stay open throughout the Easter holidays specifically for these children. The government believes this will be approximately ten per cent of our usual school roll. At the three Ebor schools that will close (Riston, Easington and Camblesforth), pupils will be taken by minibus to nearby Ebor schools each day and I am writing to parents and carers of those children separately.
Our schools will be operating a rota system, so some staff will be in school while others will work from home on remote teaching and planning.
We continue to await details from the government as to the precise definition of ‘key workers’ and so we will be in touch again with more information.
You will receive separate information directly from your school containing work planning for classes, so that children will be able to continue their education, at least in part, during this emergency period.
Even though we are living through extraordinary times, please be reassured we will continue to do the best we can for all our pupils. As the education secretary said this morning, schools will be safe places, especially for vulnerable children.
Thank you for your support. Please stay well and let us work together positively and compassionately for the benefit of all the children in our care.
Yours faithfully

Mrs Gail Brown

Important information regarding school closures

Dear Parents/Carers

Filey CE Nursery & Infants Academy will remain open for the children of key workers that would have to stop working in order to care for their children.
Key workers as listed by the Government are: NHS, Police, Ambulance service, Fire and rescue service, Adult care and Children’s social care.
Please phone Mrs Clark on 01723 513077 if you meet the above criteria and need to book your children into school from Monday 23rd March 2020.

All children that will be staying at home will receive an education pack from their class teacher on Friday 20th March. This pack will include resources and information on activities that can be done at home. You will also be directed to a page on our school website. If you do not have access to our website please let us know as soon as possible and we will provide you with paper copies.

As a school we will still be receiving the cereal, porridge and bagels from ‘Magic Breakfast’ and would like to share these with all of our families. Each week on a Wednesday from 9am until 3pm a table will be set up at the front of school (main office) with these items available for you to collect free of charge.

Please continue to check our school website for up to date information and we will continue to send text messages as needed. We will be checking our school answer machine daily so if you have any questions please leave us a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Thank you for your understanding and support during these difficult times.

Best Wishes

Angela Clark
Head of School
