Friday 16th October 2020

Dear Parents/Carers

We will all be very happy to welcome our year 2 children and staff back to school on Monday after two weeks of self-isolation. Please note that anyone with Covid-19 symptoms should not return to school even after this self-isolation period and arrange to have a Covid-19 test. Thank you to our year 2 parents for encouraging their children to complete the remote learning activities while they have been at home, I know Mr Jackson and Miss Beaumont have been busy providing wonderful lessons on Google Classroom.

Family Learning
Some of you will already know that under normal circumstances we run very popular family learning sessions in school where you can work alongside your children. Unfortunately like many things due to Covid-19 we have not been able to offer these sessions. UNTIL NOW!! We have found another way…Lucy is going to run some online sessions leading up to Christmas with wonderful craft activities you can share with your children at home. See details below:
Course: Family Learning Christmas Crafts Course
Details: Christmas crafts course designed for parents of primary aged children, focussing on Christmas crafts and activities. Each week during the session you will be taught interesting craft activities for you to do (craft-a-long), ideas for home-made presents and ideas to do with the children in the run up to Christmas in a relaxed fun environment.
The course is completely free and will be taught online for 5 weeks.
Day & Time: Thursday mornings 09.30-11.30 starts Thursday 5th November for 5 weeks. Please let Mrs Newlove (in our school office) know if you are interested before Friday 23rd October.

Harvest Festival
A big thank you for your wonderful Harvest gifts, this year these were shared with The Hylands Residential Home, Silver Birches Care Home, The Filey Food Cupboard and The Rainbow Centre. It was lovely to welcome Reverend Nigel to share Harvest with us in school and I hope you enjoyed watching the class videos on our school website.

Parent Phone Calls
As you are aware teachers are making phone calls this year to update you on your child’s progress and give you an opportunity to ask questions. If you have not indicated the time slot you require for your phone call please phone the school office. Miss Beaumont’s phone calls will now be made on Monday 19th October, the same times slots will apply. If you need to change your time please phone the school office and this can be arranged.

Poetry Assembly
Mrs Stubb’s class will hold their poetry assembly on Wednesday 21st October. Unfortunately we are unable to invite you to attend due to Covid-19 restrictions but we will video the assembly and share it on our school website later that day. You will find the video under Teaching & Learning – Classes – Mrs Stubbs.

PE Club
After half term Mr Ellis will offer year one children the opportunity to attend an after school multi-skills club. Due to the large number of children in year one (75) there will be two after school sessions on either Tuesday’s OR Thursday’s. Look out for the letter in your child’s book bag early next week.

Book Bags
Please can you ensure your child has their reading book bag in school each day.
They need their reading book every day for guided reading sessions and class activities.

Once again thank you for your support and understanding during what remains a very difficult time. Remember to follow us on Twitter to see all the great things happening in school! If you have any questions or need support with anything, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are here to help whenever we can.

Kind Regards
Angela Clark
Head of School
