Dear Parents/Carers

I hope this letter finds everyone well and keeping in good spirits during this very strange time. I would like to remind everyone that although there is no pressure for your children to complete all the work we have provided it is important that they are active on some of the online activities every week in order to receive a tick on our virtual registers. We do not know for how long schools will be closed so your child’s class teacher is keeping a virtual register as a way of making sure all children are well.

Year 2 children will be marked on the virtual register by completing activities on any of the following: – Google Classroom, Phonic Bug (Active Learn), Sumdog Maths, emailing or tweeting.

Year 1 children will be marked on the virtual register by completing activities on any of the following: – Google Classroom, Phonic Bug (Active Learn), emailing or tweeting.

Reception children will be marked on the virtual register by completing activities on any of the following: – Phonic Bug (Active Learn), emailing or tweeting.

Nursery children will be marked on the virtual register by emailing or tweeting.

If your child has not been active on any of the above online systems for a week you will receive a phone call from school. This phone call is simply to check you are all ok and if we can help you with anything. If you are struggling to provide a computer/laptop/tablet for your child to work on, please phone school and we may be able to loan you a Chromebook.

We have also provided lots of other activities that can be found on our school website under Teaching & Learning. These activities will not receive a tick on the virtual register but are there to keep your children occupied and hopefully having fun. We have also tweeted links to Oak National Academy which is a wonderful learning resource. Please remember what you are doing is not home-schooling. This is an unprecedented, emergency situation impacting the whole world and we need to keep some perspective. If you decide that your child isn’t going to engage with everything that has been set or sent home please do not worry there are also many practical ways to engage your children. It is far more important that your children are happy and healthy.

Every Tuesday and Wednesday you are welcome to collect breakfast items from school (free of charge). This will include cereals, bagels, porridge and baked beans. Depending on the weather these items will either be on a table outside the front of school or in the reception area.

The Community Cupboard in Filey will also be open every Wednesday and Friday for families and every Thursday for the elderly. Please use this wonderful resource if you can.

If you have any questions or just need to talk to someone please phone school as normal, if no-one answers you can leave a message and we will get back to you as quickly as possible. Please remember we are all here to help if we can.

Take care of each other and let’s hope we are all together again very soon.

Mrs Angela Clark
Head of School
